In my opinion - bitcoin is not mandatory for every country to legalize as a legal currency, but legalizing it to a certain extent is enough. I mean - the government does not need to adopt it as a means of payment - but legalizing trade and investment alone can make them get state revenue. The state can tax the profits of traders or investors - that is certainly beneficial, but of course it would be even better if they also adopted it as a legal means of payment.

I don't expect all countries to adopt bitcoin as legal tender - but I expect regulations to become more bitcoin-friendly rather than banning it. The more countries that support bitcoin - the better the future, that's what I hope.

If we ask countries to legalize bitcoin as a currency, we are being a bit greedy and asking for too much. Just because satoshi created bitcoin to be a currency doesn't mean the government needs to legalize bitcoin in that direction. Anyone and even the government, needs to put their own interests first, they cannot legitimize or approve anything that might harm them. Legalizing bitcoin as a currency is clearly not in their interest, so don't set expectations too high or make demands they can't meet.

Me too, I don't expect too much. What I hope is that they won't ban it and don't make the regulations too harsh. No matter what, this world is still governed and controlled by the government, we cannot expect to be free and free from their control.

Hoping governments will just say 'yep, bitcoin's money' feels like a stretch since they've got their own stuff to look out for. But I really don't want them slamming us with tough rules or banning it, that'd kill all the cool possibilities. I'd love a middle ground where bitcoin's easy to use but still has some fair limits. They could get something out of it too without making it their official cash. I just hope we can meet halfway so it works for us and them.
