That is why if we decide to stop gambling, we should completely stay away from them and temptations. It is not just by words but more by actions. because I hear a lot of saying this when losing a huge amount, but guess what? They are already gambling after a few days. It makes no sense at all. lol
That's why New Year Resolutions don't work. We tend to be determined to change our way of life in the incoming year but fail to stand by it. That's because action speaks louder than voice. We can't only be mouthing what we want to do when there's no matching action to it. Like you rightly pointed out, if one wants to steer clear of gambling one shouldn't be found in environments or circles that will trigger gambling. Otherwise, that mindset of, "one more sin won't do much harm" and "being there, done that" will flood back and one will relapse to the old habit.
You are right, same as the other user, but this is if and when addiction is already involved. That is, if the gambler is an addict who after losing some significant amount of money to gambling, decided to quit but is still hanging around gamblers, then I would say that such a person isn't ready at all.

Said this because I myself I've had an experience in 2022 when I lost almost $3000, my entire life savings to betting, it was a very devastating period for me, I had a lot gambling friends at the time and people I cannot go a day without (or so I think), but still, I never gambled or placed any bet for over 1 year after that loss even though I still hand out with my gambling friends both online and offline..
