A lot of people thought that because Liverpool performance in EPL is outstanding, they will be able to go far in UCL. Some people went far to say that Liverpool would win UCL, because they performed was superbly in the group stage. Group stage is not what we can use to judge who will be the winner of any competition, because some clubs might not take their matches serious in the group stage. Let's take PSG for example.
But isn't that normal considering how Liverpool performed in the early stages when they played 8 match with very satisfying results and besides that they were very consistent in both competitions, even people who are not Liverpool fans are also amazed at Liverpool who started this season with many significant improvements even though it is also true that the group stage is considered not so important by some team so they play less than optimally.
And talking about PSG I think they were just lucky this time, haha this is just my passing thought.
This is the most painful defeat felt by Liverpool throughout the UCL competition, because they lost at home dramatically. And they were very powerful at the beginning while PSG had difficulty at the beginning but were able to recover and advance to the quarter-finals.
PSG's performance in the two legs was indeed beyond many people's expectations, in the first leg they dominated even though they lost but in the second leg they also dominated but were able to beat Liverpool as the strongest favorite to win the Champions League. So PSG's victory was not just luck, it was purely because of Luis Enrique's ingenuity which managed to make coach Arne Slot's tactics reach a dead end in the two legs.
Liverpool must now be able to forget the defeat in the Champions League and must focus on the EPL in order to lock the EPL title faster, besides that Liverpool must use the defeat as motivation to be better in the future. Liverpool this season has the opportunity to get two trophies, the first is the EPL trophy and the second is the league cup trophy. I think these two trophies will cure their disappointment in the champions league.
