In football anything can happen even before kickoff of the UCL you had started to write off Arsenal because they would play Real Madrid of course on paper  Madrid would have a better chance because the odd favor the team  based on their experience in UCL, however I disagree with all those assumption and analysis when the two team meet in the quarterfinals it's going to be a different ball game and the outcome could go either way, I don't see anything special in the present Madrid squad they ought have been out of UCL against Atletico if not for the disallowed controversial penalty kick taken by Alvatez.
I agree with your opinion. For games like this, usually I do allow the game to play out and accept what ever the results be and that is because I try to avoid soem emotional judgements which may lead to me been disappointed especially when the said team misses out or when it turns out that the result was what I predicted I become too excited but if I'm left to later accept whatever the outcome is, most often then before I will not even feel emotional or disappointed at any point because there's no reason to and for me that's actually lal that does matters.  Let's wait and see who win, the best team should make it to the next round of the champions league.
