Even the wealthy can't escape their craving for attention, and charity is their most "cost-effective" tool. After all, a donation leads to endless media exposure, and their public image skyrockets. On the other hand, it is precisely because of these celebrity stunts that the public’s focus is drawn to distant social issues.
Sometimes it is other times it is not.
The late great owner of the New York Yankees George Steinbrenner donated millions in medical gear to New York State Hospitals with out taking any credit for it at all.
A lot of rich people do this. So they are not looking to be known as donors.
I guess we would see that on the personality of the person. Since if those wealthy man is well known asshole and get involve with lots of controversy then I guess this charity works they have done is just a public stunts so that they will be called nice by other people despite of those negative controversy they are facing.
But there are really a wealthy philanthropist doing such thing and they didn't even bother to mentioned their name that they are the donor of some activities that they are doing.
Lots of people really do this. But for politicians? they are assholes and want their name always in front just to show they are helping people, they usually do that for their own gain since they want to retain their popularity and power.
