Do people want to change? That is the main question. Giving up a bad habit is one thing, but correcting yourself is not so easy. You need to do titanic work on yourself. No one can guarantee that this will return everything to its previous course and people will again perceive a person as worthy. After all, they have memories that do not go away. It is they that form the picture of the world.

They don't have the reason or the desire to change within themselves first, they are fine being the way they are.
For this reason i am recommend books on self-psychology and self-training that help a lot to understand yourself first and then heal.
