No team is fighting for the top of the points table. However, 6 teams are fighting for the second and third places in the table. Marseille, Lille, Lyon Strasbourg, Nice and Monaco are fighting for the second and third places in the table. The difference between Monaco in third place and Strasbourg in seventh place in the table is only 4 points. So now the team that will have a consistent and stable performance is more likely to be in second and third place in the table. Marseille is now under some pressure after losing three of its last 4 matches
I never noticed it until you pointed it out. Maybe I was focused on the exploits of PSG and paying less attention to others. These six teams are contesting for the second and third position, which will enable them to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. I think Marseille will be able to get a slot in the UCL if they keep improving in their performance, while others will scrambled for one slot. Monaco and Nice are the closest to clinching the ticket, but the good thing is that all of them would play in a European competition of Ligue One ends this way.
PSG is untouchable at the top of the table, and Marseille will most likely secure a Champions League spot, while the other 5 contenders will fight for the remaining two tickets (the last ticket to the qualifying round). Lyon has to work harder than the other teams, as they still have to split their focus with the Europa League. Clearly, the dynamics of the competition for European tickets are currently more interesting than the competition for the trophy. In the next three or four matches, maybe PSG will be able to lock in the Ligue 1 trophy.
