You're right actually, bitcoin is gamble with less risks unlike other cryptocurrencies that are riskier, that is why we should invest with an amount that won't hurt us if anything peradventure happens to bitcoin in the future. Fiats is not safe to keep our money due to privacy issues and the tendency for it to suffer inflation hence investing in a valuable asset like bitcoin is not a bad idea but the way out should be that we shouldn't keep all our eggs in one basket, there is need to diversify into a lot of investments, which ever that lift us, we dine with it, if it fails, we deal with it.
