Well I don't think they will be in that situation at least not this season. The point gap difference between Tottenham and 18th places Ipswich is 17 points, that's a whole lots of points to lose from the remaining 9 games in the league this season. Besides Tottenham has 34 and will be needing 6 points extra to reach the compulsory 40 points benchmark to avoid relegation. So I strongly still think that Tottenham will not find themselves in such a position at least not this season.

Tottenham are still very likely to win more than the next 5 remaining matches, meaning they still have a big chance of staying in the Premier League even though they cannot be in the European zone. Tottenham can still qualify for Europe if they can win the Europa League title this season, but many people may doubt it.
There are several difficult matches that might result in Tottenham losing points, including against Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham and Aston Villa. For other matches, I think Tottenham can win or draw.
