Was/is he or she still profitable,  if yes then might getting something wrong, talk to your mentor.
Do you Real have trading journals? Where you keep records of profitable/lose trade and strategy which apply that got you the profit or lose.
Are you deciplined, patient, management of risks and as well the father of it all, greedy?.
