Leverkusen did not give up after they were 2 goals behind, instead they fought hard and in the end they were able to turn things around with a late goal they scored at the end of the second half. This was probably one of the best games they could show this season. If only they could play like this all season, then they might now be able to compete even tighter with Bayern Munich who are at the top of the standings. But unfortunately they experienced a slight decline so they had a little difficulty competing.
Bayer Leverkusen's performance in this game reminded me of how they played last season. They had a fighting spirit that made them win game toward the end of the match. This important win over VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich's disappointing draw with Union Berlin has opened up the chase for the Bundesliga title. The gap between the first and second position is just six points and there are still more games to play. I want Vincent Kompany to win his first major trophy as a coach, but he has to work very hard to make it happen.
A 6 point gap with 8 games left to go until the end of the season, is it possible for Leverkusen to catch up? Seeing all the remaining games with opponents that will be faced by both competitors, I think it is quite difficult, although it is not impossible for it to happen considering this is a football championship what is clear is that Bayern Munich results in their last two games make everything seem a little hopeful for Leverkusen that Munich cannot always end the match with a win against a team below their level. My hope is that I want to see Leverkusen motivated and fighting for the remaining matches with greatness.
