I think the key to avoiding impulsive actions and decisions is to "accept defeat", I think that's the only thing that can make it easier for us to stop at the right time before everything gets worse, basically emotions always push someone into a much worse situation in anything and not just in gambling, so it is very possible for a gambler to lose much more money when they can't control their emotions. This is where it is important to have a rational point of view, because I'm sure that by understanding the concept of winning and losing in gambling, you will realize that your actions by prioritizing emotions will only lead you to a much worse situation.
If you are still in control better to make that hard stop and quit your way out from the venue where you are performing your gambling activities, those who can are safe in will avoid losing more than they can afford to let go, it's a good discipline where things still be in your favor in terms of preventing to lose more money.
Though it's for sure that not all can control their emotions and if they keep it and follow the trend then the outcome will turned against them and they'll lose more money than the amount that they'll think they allocate for their gambling.
That's only if for example they can really control themselves especially in terms of emotions, but in essence as I said above that the main key to being able to avoid losing money in significant amounts is only by having the ability to "accept the state of defeat", because all decisions are in the hands of the gamblers themselves, meaning that what we must first resolve is the trigger because there will be no impact whatsoever if we can overcome something that triggers the occurrence of various unwanted things. So the first in my opinion is to admit the following also by accepting that you have lost and lost money and the second is to understand that that's what gambling is like.
