Even when you have entered into full addiction to the game you can get out of it, there are much worse addictions that are defeated daily. One above all the excessive addiction to tobacco, I could tell many stories of those who for health reasons had to give up tobacco.
It takes willpower!

If health is at stake, then such a patient will quit smoking the first time, unlike me, who quit smoking several dozen times and in the end I succeeded. And if the player also had a choice, like a patient before smoking, he would have stopped playing if he could have been aware of his actions by then.

Some people never stop, simply because they don't wish to stop... some people never have a real desire to quit something they love doing, even when that love is killing them. "We have to die from something, so why not die from something we love?" My father, at 67 years old, after several strokes and other health problems, still smokes. Only he knows how many cigarettes he smoked per day, but after his last stroke, he said he would cut down to 20 per day! But he is not drinking as he used to... at least.

I guess the bottom line is those who wish to be free of gambling or anything else can do it, but only if they really, really wish that! Everything else is lying to yourself, and no one should do that to themselves. So relax, enjoy life without regrets, and simply do things you love to do!
