He must be punished for his mistake, but whether he will be given a life sentence or not will be decided by their court.

However, if he gets two such sentences, other players will be warned not to make such mistakes.
On the other hand, it would be better to ban him from this sport for life, but it isn't reasonable to give him a life sentence.

After giving him a temporary punishment, he should be banned from football for life and let him live freely. Perhaps he has committed some crime that has gone beyond the limits.

Although I shared my opinion, what their country's legal system will say is their business. I don't know about their laws, but he should be banned for life and released. Then, he can work in another sector and earn a living for his family.
Sorry if I wasn't clear, but don't get me wrong. He isn't going to be killed or something like that. I was just comparing the fact of being banned from sports for life to a life sentence.

Of course he can still work on another sectors to make a living from, finding alternatives for his life, however it's not that easy to be on the top of your career and suddenly lose it, without any chances of recovering it.

One thing is the feeling of having never possessed, another thing is the feeling you possessed it at some point, and then lost it forever. The second situation is much worst, because it involves mourning, as you miss something which were very satisfying and important for you.
