Personally, I think Atletico Madrid kicked themselves out of the title race, they were in the title race during their game Vs Barcelona, they needed few minutes to hold on after going 2 goals up but they gave it away and surrendered everything after that loss. I feel for them though but as it stands even Barcelona will not give up that top spot to Real Madrid that's right behind them not to talk of Atletico Madrid.
This happened after 70th minutes of the game play. Atletico Madrid seemed to have won the game before the whole game changed for what I call no reason. Atletico Madrid became too comfortable with the 2 goals up, which came with the unnecessary laxity that came from their end which was capitalized by the Barcelona players starting from the first goal scored by Lewandowski after he saw the tight opportunity to do the needful. Less than 6 minutes, the second goal was launched by Ferran Torres to make an equalizer. Yamal did the jailbreak by making the 3rd goal at the injury time then Ferran Torres who scored the final and winning goal at 90+8 minutes of the game.
And in LaLiga, it seems that Atletico Madrid also have more easy opponents for the rest of the season. Except for Real Betis and Real Sociedad of course. It's just that I'm pretty sure Atletico Madrid will produce good results in the remainder of this season. But the problem is that Barcelona and Real Madrid will also try in the same way. And Barcelona remains the most likely to finish at the top of the rankings this season.
Losing their match against Barcelona was really a bad omen for them. It stopped them from closing the gap between them and the top of the table standing. There are still couple of more games to go but if they have won today's game, they would have been more closer to winning since that was their major game. Unfortunately, that didn't work and the club ended up losing.
