Losing a few crucial points is taking Atletico further away from the current championship chase, especially if Barcelona can win the postponed match against Osasuna later, but even so we don't have to completely rule out Atletico from the current championship path, because after all everything can still happen considering the competition still has 10 matches left.

And on the other hand, if you look at the points difference between Atletico Madrid and the 2 teams above them, it seems like Atletico Madrid can still catch up.
This could have been the best opportunity for Atletico Madrid to improve their game because they are out of the Champions League whereas the two of their greatest rival namely Real Madrid and Barcelona are still involved in the Champions League games which means they will be distracted from the La Liga games and they could probably lose points so if Atletico Madrid maintains consistency they can still have the privilege to top the league table since they are just 4 points behind Barcelona and Real Madrid who are ahead of them
And in another competition, namely the Copa Del Rey, Atletico Madrid are actually quite close to winning the trophy this season, but unfortunately to be able to qualify for the final, somehow Atletico Madrid must be able to beat Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey semifinals. And if they do qualify for the final, Atletico will most likely meet Real Madrid. This is a really difficult journey for Diego Simeone and the team to be able to win the trophy this season. So far Atletico Madrid has only been a shadow for Barcelona and Real Madrid in the hunt for trophies this season.
Atletico Madrid played Barcelona so well in the first leg when they ended with a score of 4:4, if they play with same energy in this second leg they can win Barcelona and reach the finals where they can get the opportunity of winning the Copa Del Rey but before they can achieve it they will need to work hard for it because Barcelona might win them if they are not careful in the second leg and if they manage to win Barcelona and get to the finals, they will likely face Real Madrid since they will likely reach the final because they won Real Sociedad in the first leg and they will win them again in the second leg.
