Manchester derby will always be different. Although Man City is currently better, this match will be at United's home ground. Even their last meeting United won.
The current situation may be different, because we know Man City is also better than the last meeting between the two. It will still be a tough match, but Amorim may not let them lose this time. If they can't win, maybe a draw is not bad for United.

In Manchester derby games the winner is usually uncertain because even when Manchester United was in a very poor state they have managed to beat Manchester City like wise last season when Manchester City was very good yet Manchester United defeated them in the FA cup to win the trophy. Manchester City may look better than Manchester United but they are going through a lot right now which makes them uncertain to win matches, Manchester United playing against them will be different because Manchester United plays better against stronger opponent and Manchester City is not as strong like before so the winner of the derby will be decided by the team that is able to take advantage of their chances Manchester City is not guaranteed as the potential winner now.
I don't see Manchester city as a potential winner in the upcoming derby. Just like the instances you gave above. Manchester United has been having the upper hands in this derby lately and something similar can still repeat this time around. Manchester United have won their last two Matches, they are looking like a side that has rediscovered their form. I can bet that Manchester city will not beat Manchester United in the upcoming derby. I just hope that their players who are out on international duties should not pick up injuries. And Manchester city hasn't won in their last two matches. So there is nothing to fear. Worst that can happen is a draw, they both share the points.

Two consecutive wins by Manchester United mean absolutely nothing in the context of their form. To say that they have picked up form they need to win at least 5 matches probably. MU are in the second half of the table and are struggling, unlike Manchester City who have had a disappointing season but are in pretty good shape compared to MU
