I'd say deserved! Heck, every match-fixing should be 100% penalized like this. I mean it's not JUST their individual integrity that's at stake here, it's the entire match at stake and sometimes that can be the make or break for someone. Don't really give a crap if it's going to take time, people who willingly match fix deserve to get banned however long the trial takes.

As for being related to gambling, not so much really. I guess if you're betting on their team or something then maybe. But outside of that? No effect. If people started getting mass banned due to match fixing then I reckon it should be the management or something that gets banned, not the players.
