I live in an environment where people perceive smokers as bad people. They see a smoker as someone who is bad, Someone who is not loyal, someone who is stubborn and have no love in him, someone who can easily hurt others, someone who is capable of committing crime in the society. And many more I can't remember. Maybe when you read this you can add more to the list. The question is why are Smokers viewed this way in the society?
Why smokers are view this way is something one may not really know or tell but what I feel is making people to feel this way about smokers is culture. When you look at the cultural perspective of people towards some certain things in today’s world, even when they look superstitious, as long as you belong to that culture, you’ll be made to view it as such and also regard it as such. Smoking generally is not going to the health as the excess of it damages some vital organs inside the body system.
This after proven by scientist has now made it even more of a worse thing someone can engage doing in the society. Some go to extent of smoking substances that affect the normal functioning of the brain and makes them do things abnormally, that’s why they’re viewed as the bad eggs of the society and anything illegal is attached to them more. Even as smoking does not mean that person is a bad person, the society will always stigmatize you as one and that’s why you can’t take away when you belong to a society that views smoking as such.
