With the recent rise in gambling activities especially even among the elderly those seen as elders who supposed to be advising the younger generations about the genders of gambling getting involved in related activities, infact if you enters a local gambling shop in my country you will not no an elder from a youth because you see elders also engaging in gambling especially virtually sport betting.
So am asking the forum what do you think is the cause of the rise in gambling related activities in our society is it due to bad economic situation or simply addiction?
Let have your view please
Where was it mentioned that there is a recent rise in gambling activities? Is that in your country? Btw it has been steadily high in my country but it has become a social thing among friends. If you are a male and have male friends, you'll be in an environment where almost all of your friends gamble, so if you want to remain social, you have to gamble at some point. When I was a kid, gambling was a cool thing and some form of expression of masculinity (gambling and cars). In my region, friends place a bet on sports events, especially on soccer, then gather together before the match in one of their friend's houses, buy beers, chips, and shawarma and enjoy the moment together. This is what elder people do, so when young people see that, they copy them.
Btw in my country, the popularity of gambling is the result of the economic situation as well as it becoming a social thing. Where I live, gambling is like alcohol, it's a social thing and we all do but addiction doesn't happen, there are only a few people who are really addicted to an extreme level.
