So am asking the forum what do you think is the cause of the rise in gambling related activities in our society is it due to bad economic situation or simply addiction?

The factors causing the rise of gambling are because there is a lot of free time, no other activities and coupled with the environment that is often found that indicates gambling.
i think that this is not as applicable anymore these days because there’s now online gambling which you can pretty much do anywhere and could even do in under an hour or less so time is not an issue anymore
Who doesn't want to get money quickly? That is the temptation so that gambling activities both in the past and until now have only one attraction namely the lure of a quick way to get money.
people are so attracted to the promise of quick money they forget that they are losing money really quickly too lol
