Not even necessary to live together,  if you don't even live together I think it is better for the couples to take their time and to male sure they themselves better before proceeding to get married.  One of the mistake she people make even those that dated for a longtime, they don't really know themselves better because may be they meet once in a while, after getting married they both will be seeing hidden characters from each other that they never saw when they were dating.
