Yeah right, but the thing is, first position is mathematically still in contention although it's quite impossible to achieve. I don't see the possibility of Liverpool losing 6 games in the remaining 9 matches and Arsenal winning at least 7 games out of the remaining 9 matches in total because that's the only way Arsenal can win the league. Liverpool will definitely win the league, the points difference puts them at that advantage.
Arsenal are still mathematically in the title race, but the chances of Arsenal winning the Premier League are very low. I don't believe Arsenal can win all their remaining games without dropping a point, Liverpool are too safe with their title hopes this season. There is no fierce competition for the title this season, Liverpool are advancing quickly without much obstacles.

In my opinion, Arsenal will only be focused on securing their place in next season's Champions League while looking for a way to beat Real Madrid in the quarter-finals this season. Arsenal have both opportunities, but I don't think they will win either title.

It is all this talk about mathematics and I am of the same opinion that Arsenal can't announce publicly that they give up the title race just yet, but I think the only right focus now is from game to game and try to go for the full 27 points in the last 9 remaining games. There is no need to do the mathematics here. If only for some unforeseen reasons Liverpool would lose perhaps two games in a row, then maybe it makes some more sense to think about a last moment chance to still intervene. But I believe that this has never happened ever in the Premier League if teams were placed and distanced from each other like this and the first still threw it away.

They have to say that they still fight until it's mathematically over, but my opinion is that Arteta will not risk anything in the Premier League if that would raise the risk of players not being able to play in the Champions League. That will be the target title now and not the Premier League and to be honest it would be the right decision. They will qualify for the Champions League anyway unless they lose half of their games and I think even then it is ok.
