Different gamblers have different goals, strategies, control, etc. Right now if i have free time - i just analyze several matches and make bets on it. That` s all my game and it doesn`t matter if i win or lose - i willn`t bet again and in the end i`ll cash out(if i don`t lose all Smiley ). Someone can have sum limit that is enough for him and he stops the game after reaching it.
When i tried to make gambling my main income - i never stopped and tried to leave emotions out of the game.

Most often this is exactly what happens (at least for me), I also choose several bets and wait for the outcome, I do not strive to make many bets and it does not matter whether I win or lose. I do not rely on luck, I just choose events that in my opinion can play, I also do not set myself the goal of earning money by gambling, so I do not make big bets, and even in case of loss it does not affect me in any way.
I can identify with you. I place stakes with little money since I have very limited gambling budget, so I've to spread it across my gambling days so it would be enough. Most times I place bets and even forget about it until the next gambling session. I try my best to remove any much attachment that might lead me to addiction and I must admit it takes good level of emotional control to remain resolute.

Gambling is about luck and I don't hesitate to try my luck and sometimes I get real lucky, while sometimes it is what it is Angry
If it is ok for you and you get the result you want(doesn`t matter fun or money) - it is ok. But if you seriously limited - it can be better to avoid bets or make 1-2 bigger bets than 20 small bets. The result be better, takes less time, and decrease addiction.
But it is just an opinion, if it is ok for you - you can continue of course as you play now.
