It feels good to be back on the mates on the floor list. Made 40 pu's yesterday evening and will probably do some today evening but I'll probably add them to the next days report.
Welcome back! Are you doing them in one or more sets?
I'm doing 45 per day - some times I'm doing double that amount (but not often)
Thank you! It depends on day, sometimes I do 20-40 in one set, but if I go hard and push myself I can do 40 in one set. On best days 10 years ago I could do 50 in one set but those days are long gone.
There might be ways that you can continue to increase your pushups per set. I surely have surprised myself in several ways..including my pushups forum, my quantity of pushups per set, my number of pushup sets per day and even my having had spent quite a bit of time on slow pushups (for some of my sets - usually no more than one pushup set per day is a slow set).
I sometimes get into a bit of a pattern, but then the pattern gets disrupted based on some scheduling matters or my other activities that will interfere with the pattern to cause some days to be fewer pushups and then other days I feel that i have to make up for the days that had fewer pushups..
Ultimately, I feel that I have to feel comfortable that I did enough pushups for the day, even though I had some periods of times of greater intensity that likely would not be sustainable for my own situation and even my personal preferences to have maintenance of physical fitness, from time to time attempts to build or focus on some other parts of the body, and then also some attempts at managing limits too.
Right now I am trying to do each of my pushup sets with a set of lunges, so I do the pushups first and have maybe 3 minutes or so break before doing the lunges, and so I have one fast set of pushups, one slow set and one fast set, and so that has been ending up with around 120 or so pushups, but there can be some variety, and then I have also sometimes felt guilty, so I threw in an extra pushup set for the day. the lunges tend to mostly be between about 20 to 30 of them and they usually take around 2 seconds per lunge.
I have had some issues with my toes hurting on the lunges, so I will have to try to pay attention to the distribution of my body weight and so that I am not putting too much pressure on any given part of my foot.. I have been considering the lunges as a way to complement my pushups.
