The President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government has ordered continuous salary deductions from federal workers to recover "excess payments" made in December 2024, blaming the situation on a system error.
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) confirmed in a Friday statement, signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, that deductions are ongoing and will continue until the overpaid sums are fully recovered.
This move has come as a shock to many civil servants because when the money was paid last December everyone thought it was exmass bonus which is usually what is done during festive periods, what do you think that the situation?

I don't believe they should think of this in this hard time. Civil servant are suffering, their pay rate is far more than their expenditure. If they are overpaid by December and the government want to remove that from their salary, this should be done in a way that won't affect them.
