Almost everything people do in adult life is for money, but this does not mean that everything they do can bring income. In gambling, each player first looks for earnings, but then when they realize that it is much more difficult than they initially thought, everything turns into a game for fun. If you play for several years and are at a loss, will you be able to say that you play for earnings, or will you say that gambling for you is a game for fun?
I'm not sure about that, there are plenty of people that dedicate their lives to other things that are not mainly to generate money.
For example, many go to a gym, or stay hone to raise their family, or many other things really...
Not everything in life is work, I would even go to say that work is an important part, but should be just a part of someone's life, that's how you get a balanced life, with socialising, enjoying life, learning, etc.
