I don't think Enzo Maresca dropped Robert Sanchez as Chelsea's first choice goalkeeper without reason. It's likely due to squad rotation and Sanchez's slightly dip in form. As a result, Maresca has opted to give Filip Jorgensen a chance, which is a reasonable decision to maintain competition and freshen up the squad.
If Sanchez decides to leave the club, I don't think Chelsea will miss him. They already have solid goalkeeping options, and in the event of his departure, they could recall kepa arrizabalaga from his loan spell at Bournemouth. Chelsea has young goalkeeping prospects, Djordje Petrovic, who could step up if needed.
I don’t think it’s anything related to squad rotation at all rather it’s Robert Sanchez Performance that made him to be the second choice at the moment. He makes too many errors which always leads to goal and have cost the team some matches which they could have easily won and picked more points. For a goalkeeper of Sanchez caliber I think it is a shame to be making such costly errors, he has had enough experience in the premier league already to be making these errors and I think even the coach is disappointed in him at this stage.
Of course Sanchez will not be missed if he eventually leaves because the team have enough competent goalkeepers to replace him. Kepa Arrizabalaga is doing well at Bournemouth and he is a good fit for the first choice, also they have Petrovic who have proven his ability last season despite being loaned out he had a good performance last season and can still be relied on so Sanchez will not be missed at all.
Enzo Maresca has given Robert Sanchez the chance to prove his quality, but he has failed to live up to the coach's expectations. The decision taken by Enzo Maresca is very reasonable and previously Hansi Flick had done the same thing to Inaki Pena, now he is more trusting the main goalkeeper position to Szczesny.
Chelsea certainly won't be short of players if Robert Sanchez chooses to leave the club, there are still plenty of other goalkeepers who can be relied on to strengthen the team.
Not just Enzo Maresca, even Pochettino gave him chance last season and he blew it and now he is doing the same with Maresca this season this only means that he is not fit to be Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper. Instead of him to feel sorry and work hard to fight for the position he is insisting on leaving if he is not used as first choice goalkeeper. I am disappointed in Sanchez and he should be allowed to leave if that is what he wants.
