Someone made a thread in the altcoin section where he wants to stake but doesn't have enough knowledge about DeFi. A newbie replies to him and invites him to talk through WhatsApp. I don't know what his intention was; it could be good or bad.
This isn't an allegation, actually, but a warning. This way, scammers invite you to talk, and they might motivate you to invest somewhere. They might show fake screenshots or proof to convince you. And some innocent greedy people would fall into the trap and lose everything. So just be careful of such invitations. Rather, it's better to discuss in public places.
Just to share what happened to my GF a few weeks ago:
My GF was planning on investing into cryptocurrencies since he previously purchased some meme coins (Doge) in the past. She then decided to improve her investing skills by properly diversifying her portfolio to include altcoins and BTC to her investments. Suddenly, she asked me whether she should join this "investing group" on Facebook and Telegram. I quickly warned her to NEVER join any kind of group which offers "promising and guaranteed returns" of investment schemes.
After a few days, my GF was invited to the Telegram group. The group was asking for a $80 fee in order to have access to their so-called "files" but I compelled her to NOT pay. The group was consistently chatting her on TG until a few days after, that group deleted their accounts.
Like what OP mentioned, please never entertain any kind of messages regarding investing especially if it came from someone who is NOT trusted to in this space. It is better to prevent than to cure; be responsible as that is the last line of defense!
