for example, when i reach about twice the amount i deposited, i usually find it enough and walk away without pushing my luck too much. doubling your money in gambling isn’t that easy anyway. i think most people have a similar goal around this level.

and lastly, do you ever cash out while in the red? when things go bad, do you sometimes take out less than your initial deposit, thinking, "it's better than nothing"?
It varies because everyone has their own views on when they want to withdraw from every win they get. It is better to be neutral and if it is considered enough, the money in the previous win can be withdrawn first and left for the next bet. Depending on the arrangement pattern set by someone so as not to burden themselves in gambling excessively.

I have cashed out in several matches because previously I played singles in a football match. But after the game was underway I saw that no team was able to win the match so I was forced to cash out so as not to suffer a full loss.
Every gambler must set a winning limit to cash out winnings, if that is not done usually the balance will be drained again and end up continuing the game until it loses completely. I have applied both options and it feels annoying not to withdraw winnings early after reaching 2x what has been deposited.
