I agree, Nottingham Forest is having a fabulous season, even third. Next season they will go to Champions League, have they ever been in Champions League?
Let's hope they can achieve at least one of their goals, i assume going to play in a prestigious cup
They have even won two European Cups (now the UEFA Champions League) and that makes them one of six English clubs to have claimed the competition. But that was achieved when they were at their peak, around the 1970s, that was quite a long time ago.
I just checked and you are correct, the first time they won it was in 1978/1979 season, and it was against Malmö FF, one of the top teams in the Sweden Allsvenskan league, they also won it the following season 1979/1980, against Hamburg of Germany so they basically have a good record in the Champions League. With their level of performance in the Premier League, if they use same energy in the Champions League next season if they qualify (of course their qualification is already obvious), then will really go far in their Champions League games since they have already had the experience, the only difference is that it's been long they qualified for the Champions League so it will still look new to them.
Yea Nothingham Forest has great history on European triumph and it was when Chelsea got their second Champions league trophy under Tuchel we got equal tally with them.
To be frank there are other teams in the championship or even mid team in the EPL that has similar rich history but unfortunately fell off and hasn't been able to bounce back to their best and become global contenders again.
While Nothingham Forest are likely going to the Champions League again, during the coming transfer window I won't be surprised the number of Interest for some their players but if they hold on to their current squad and keep on building, I think they might just be getting back on their feet like Newcastle United rather than being in similar state like La Liga the team Girona. Who has fallen off from their excellent performance last season that led them to the Champions League this season but are now like a shadow of themselves.
