Alex Ovechkin is the NHL's new top goal scorer.
On April 6, Ovechkin scored goal #895 to pass Wayne Gretzky as the highest-scoring player in NHL history.

The amazing stat was that he equaled Wayne in almost exactly the same game numbers.
Minus one game out of more than 1500...both took 20 years to do it.
I wonder how much he will be able to extend it (the record) and how many years he might play...he still have a contract next year (only one year left), but I can envision Leonsis to try to renegotiate...maybe offering a bit less per year, but a 3 year extension, for example, instead of just one year...or something like this.
This year is probably the last one Ovi can bang out more than 40 goals (42 currently), but I digress.
