We all know that as we earn income, we're required to pay taxes. Generally, the more you earn, the higher your taxes. But what about countries with weaker economies that don't strictly enforce tax laws? Would you prefer to live in such a place?
Let’s break this down: What do taxes actually do, and what are the pros and cons of living in a country where tax enforcement is weak? Overall, does this benefit the people, or does it ultimately make life harder for them?
I am always ready to pay taxes, if they are not stolen by officials of all stripes. But, alas... The picture is that my country is being robbed blind. Corruption is so high that in recent years it has even become some kind of norm. Every day I read the news that another civil servant has been arrested for using budget money for personal use. Therefore, I have no particular desire to share part of my earnings, income with the state. Wherever you look, there is complete devastation and poverty. Gloom and apathy after such pictures.
