Don't trust someone you don't know online. I think this is the way to go about this. Some people are only interested on what help you want to render but they are not mindful of the effect afterwards. Scammers are everywhere, they can clone their device and begin to direct you into different areas through the chat. I have heard of such experience like that and the scammer succeeded to begin amorous chats and showing of nude pictures of "themselves" but it is fake pictures and you won't know until you have been scammed. So to accept such offer of support or help online isn't reasonable.
No matter how smart scammers and hackers are they need their victim to make some silly mistakes. One can't be victim of a scammer unless he commit the mistake which scammer is looking forward. OP just posted one case where a person is inviting people to his whatsapp number and it creates doubts when someone is not willing to talk openly on the forum but on his whatsapp number. We don't need to be technically strong to understand moves of scammers and hackers, just few smart moves like not contacting on the whatsapp number will keep you safe online.
