Newcastle's main goal is to get into the top 5 (this guarantees direct entry into the Champions League, as England is number one in the UEFA rankings and will receive an additional ticket) and now they look like favorites in this fight. The game in hand with Crystal Palace, I think it's at least one point, which already allows them to keep Chelsea, Aston Villa and City at a distance. The most positive thing for Newcastle is that, unlike many other teams, they are playing better towards the end of the season rather than experiencing a decline.
Ok let's say to qualify to the CL next season is by finishing in the top 4, I believe Newcastle have a bigger advantage ahead of the other clubs behind them because of the outstanding game at hand, the finals they won against Liverpool has changed their mindset and how they go about business, all they think of is winning and getting all 3pt and it would be sad if they could not make it to the champions league next campaign. The race for the top 4 between those clubs you made mentioned of (Chelsea, Villa and City) are not in any way ready to drop point and should in case Newcastle choose to lose their game at hand I don't think it would be easy to make it back to the top 4 but I feel they are going to win Palace even if they (Palace) are in good shape currently.
