For example, a good person loses his job and has a lot of bills to pay and doesn't know how to get money. This person starts drinking a lot of alcohol, months later he becomes addicted to alcohol, then he discovers gambling and becomes addicted to gambling.
Such thing can happen for sure, but I can say it can rarely happen because addiction requires money, and so since he lost his job, meaning addictive habits had already been decreased at the lowest minimum. A man already working has the habit of drinking alcohol and so loosing his job cannot spike the usage high instead he reduced the hands off alcohol gradually because money no longer available as before.

What might actually make such person get addicted to is gambling, because he's already a man of money, so he wouldn't want to stay broke anymore but wants to maintain his pocket never dry status, this habit drives him down gambling gradually until he falls in the trap where he loses the little he has trying to multiple it. This picture is insane and it's bad been a victim.
