I have a little bit of physical gold, much less than bitcoin, proportionally, because I think the world is turning more and more to digital and in these assets/reserves of value it is not going to be less. We have recently seen gold rising more than bitcoin, but we can't take the short term and draw extrapolations. If we take the entire history of bitcoin, bitcoin has been much more profitable than gold.

As for investing in gold, it is more difficult for Average Joe because if you want to invest in physical gold, for small amounts (that you can save monthly) you are going to pay a high premium, and if you go to paper gold it is another kind of fiat, which I don't recommend.

Diversifying a little in physical gold is fine, but not as an alternative to bitcoin, because it is more expensive, less divisible, more difficult to hide and many other reasons.
