I think that we need to gain experience with different bets, different situations with losses and big wins, after which we will not be too interested and it will not cause us too much emotion, and when emotions are at a low level, then we can concentrate on more reasonable and balanced decisions. In addition, some can be helped by various things like watching how others win or lose huge amounts and imagining what would happen to us if we were in his place. Although it may not help some very much.
Experiencing different kind of bets and situations will help us improve to become better gamblers.
And it's not about being a better and winnable gambler but being responsible and how to respond in hard situations that we cannot control ourselves anymore.
Learning from the others is one way but it's true that it might not help us a lot when we're confident we are in control until we're no longer.
The advantage is, having experience can prepare yourself on what to expect if you gamble again. It's not often favor to us hence we must keep in mind that in gambling we can really lose our money, but despite that we still keep coming back to try our luck.

Being aware of this it's not going to be hard to control our emotions if we have discipline. As long as we're playing in moderation and able to stop when already needed, then you can prevent becoming an addicted gambler since you know your limit and not greedy to win. Past experiences can help to accept the situation if we happen to lose again.
That is a given thing with gambling. We have to accept that as a reality that we'll lose money eventually.
But if you're up for it and taking time in learning how to win them back, it'll also have to cost something for it.
And that's what we need to do, play and gamble in moderation and so our budgets wouldn't be cut for something else and an important matter that we have to address instead of gambling.
