keeping yourself busy doing other things will really help you from thinking about gambling, it's a good alternative in preventing yourself from thinking and aiming to keep pushing yourself playing or betting around. It's important to have other activities that can help you things like sports or doing gyms or getting out together with your friends or relatives that will eat out most of your time and not to give any space to allow you to think about gambling, a good way to avoid stressing yourself as you'll not going to think about gambling and those loses that you experienced.
That worked opposite for me quite often. If I do monotonous tasks, or something semi automated, at one moment I notice that I do it on autopilot and start thinking more and more about thinks I wish to run away from. I clearly remember when I had problems in relationship and try to make myself busy to stop thinking about, during activities, even with headphones with music on, all my thought was about relationship. I was at the gym, and havent even noticed how few hours fly away, what muscles I was working on and what audiobook I was listening.
My advice - be more cautious and accurate in selecting activity to keep busy, because it might have opposite effect and a person might get stressed even more.
