The situation in Venezuela has been described as an authoritarian regime under the leadership of Nicolás Maduro, since 2013.
Approximately 500 media outlets have been closed since Hugo Chavez's term. which has limited press freedom, more than 8 million people have gone into exile, In addition, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights has demanded the release of more than 900 political prisoners who remain arbitrarily detained.
The government has also faced accusations of electoral fraud and repression against opponents, which has generated internal and external tensions, including disputes with Guyana over the Essequibo territory.
The armed forces are complicit and support such a regime.
Venezuela really needs urgent support from foreign military forces since it is prone to becoming a second Cuba.
