If we evaluate it overall, the US is still the country with the strongest military in the world with balance and diversity. Even Russia can hardly compare with the United States militarily, let alone China. If there were an armed conflict, the US would have an absolute advantage, but that will never happen.
Militarily, Russia is the United States' most formidable rival, but they have never considered Russia as a rival on the national stage. Instead, they see China as their most formidable rival, and simply because China is developing evenly in terms of economy, military, technology...China has developed evenly in an amazing, way and that is what is threatening the superpower status of the United States.
Not for long. If the US gets isolated from the rest of the world, it will lose its military and economic might. Empires can't last forever, anyways. When the time comes, China will reign supreme. Unless, the EU gets bigger and stronger as a result of the on-going conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
For what I know, anything can happen in the future. The US created this monster (China), and now it must "deal" with it. Cooperation between both countries will ensure peace and long-term prosperity. Isn't that what we want? Why focus on fighting against each other? A multi-polar world will hinder mankind's progress. At least, that's what I think...
