Newcastle United have really been underestimated this season and one will never knew they would rise up the ranks in the Premier League table in this manner. They are just four points away from Arsenal who are in second place with six more matches left for them to all play. If Arsenal should fumble in two matches, then Newcastle will overtake them in the second place on the table. Liverpool is still far ahead of the remaining teams and their performance currently is not even given a negative sign that they will be replaced from that first position before the end of the seaosn. Newcastle are in a very good position to finish the league in the top four after surpassing Nottingham Forest and overtaking them on the third place in the table. All they need now is consistency till the end of the season.
By the way, yes, Newcastle remained unnoticed in the Premier League for a long time, but at the end of the season they gained excellent form and even overtook Nottingham. They are 4 points behind Arsenal, but I think that their main goal now will be to simply finish the season in the top 5 and get a place in the Champions League, and not try to overtake Arsenal to rise to second place.
