The last 5 matches of the Premier League will be very competitive for the first 7 teams, because all the first 7 teams have a chance to qualify for the Champions League. Although 2 teams have confirmed the Champions League and 3 which is a team with a higher chance of Newcastle. Now the 4th team is Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Chelsea and Aston Villa. It is very difficult to say which team will be able to hold on to the 4th place. Since no team except Arsenal has a busy Champions League schedule, it goes without saying that every team will try their best. I personally would like to see Aston Villa in the Champions League. Because in the current Champions League season they gave a tough time to the opposition teams and played until the quarter-finals. I will definitely miss them next season if they cannot qualify for the Champions League from the top 4 of the Premier League.
Since it has been said that five teams will be eligible to compete in the Champions League, Chelsea is taking it more seriously than others. During their game yesterday, they rested important players like Caicedo, Enzo, and had to substitute Cucurella for their next Premier League match against Fulham. Six games are still left to play not five games, this is week 33 after seeing results we can call last five games left to decide the fate of contending teams for Champions League spot.
Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle are majorly seasoned to maintain their spot, while Nottingham, Manchester City, and Chelsea will duel fiercely, after all one team will step down while five teams will play Champions League, representing the Premier League.
I fully forgot about that rule but yes due to their increased UEFA coefficient because of their good performances across I think Champions League, UEFA/Conference League, they get five spots because they are top two in the UEFA ranking. This is of course valuable and could save Pep Guardiola's ass!
But looking at it from a different perspective, if Manchester City does not qualify for the Champions League in a season when there are actually five spots instead of four, it would be the worst disaster you can imagine for the club.
