I gotta say, those perspectives seem kinda harsh.  Life is not just about getting ahead by stepping on people.  That kinda thinking tries justifying selfishness when we could help folks up too and  now hard work matters sure, but success from only caring about number one feels empty in the end.  Everything comes back around.  I would think on that some.
