I think you should sit your friends down and educate them about bitcoin,a little knowledge would go a long way.Many people consider Bitcoin to as shitcoins that why they call it high risk investment,the ones that will run away with their money that looks very suspicious they won't consider it as a high risk investment for instance the recent crypto scam that's trending on the internet cbex precisely,there are certain arguments I don't get into, argument like Bitcoin is a high risk investment.We have short term investment and long term investment,maybe they were referring to the short term investment as a high investment or it could be trading I guess.I think there's no risk in investing on Bitcoin,if volatility is the only risk many people consider,then it's also an advantage because if the market doesn't fluctuate there wouldn't have been no bull run moment and also no bear moment for investors to take advantage of the dip.
