I have used it several times for small amounts. Looks a solid alternative.
I took a quick look at Sideshift's TOS and FAQ and this is what I found.
The service collects and stores certain tracking information of their customers. This data can be shared with law enforcement on request. Sideshift is partnered with blockchain analysis companies or how they call them, "
industry-leading third-party risk solutions." They feed them information about the coins and addresses being used in swaps. If they consider something to be "illegal" or "malicious", the swap process will stop and there will be a manual check. If the check deems the coins as not acceptable, you will have to undergo KYC to get a refund. In some cases, you can get your money back without undergoing identity verification.
In short, they are not what eXch has been for years. They don't treat all bitcoin equally, they accept the notion of taint, and may confiscate your money.
