SOL is overtaking ETH in every metrics.

SOL DeFi is likely to surpass ETH in the near future in my opinion.

Memecoins ecosystem is just way greater than ETH.

How ETH going to solve this issue and maintain the king spot?

The statement that SOL surpasses ETH in every metric is interesting and reflects how rapidly the crypto ecosystem is evolving. Solana (SOL) has shown incredible performance, especially in terms of transaction speed, extremely low fees, and explosive growth in the DeFi and memecoin sectors.

However, it is important to understand that dominance is not determined by short-term trends or transaction volume alone. Ethereum (ETH) has deep advantages that are not easily displaced, such as:

1. Network effects and institutional adoption: Ethereum is still the most widely used blockchain for smart contracts, NFTs, and DeFi, with the largest developer community in the crypto space.

2. Layer-2 ecosystem: Ethereum is actively addressing scalability issues through Layer-2 solutions such as Arbitrum, Optimism, and zkSync. This could rival Solana’s speed in the long run while maintaining decentralization.

3. Security and decentralization: Ethereum is considered more censorship-resistant and more decentralized than Solana, which has experienced downtimes.

4. Clear roadmap: With developments like Danksharding and proto-danksharding (EIP-4844), Ethereum has a solid technological path to stay competitive.

That said, there’s no denying that Solana is gaining ground with its pragmatic approach. Its vibrant memecoin ecosystem, low fees, and seamless user experience are attracting a lot of new, less technical participants. These are real advantages and not just hype.

The bottom line:
Ethereum doesn’t need to “beat” Solana directly. Instead, the two can coexist with their respective strengths. However, to maintain its “kingdom” position, Ethereum must continue to accelerate its technological development, improve its user experience, and stay relevant amidst an increasingly competitive ecosystem.
