I saw this on X about a regular gambler and a professional gambler. From my understanding of it, it is not about the gambler being an addict but just a regular gambler.  Which of the statements do you disagree with regarding the two?

1. Emotion vs. Discipline
•Gambler: Chases wins, reacts emotionally to losses, bets impulsively.
•Professional: Trusts the process, sticks to a plan, treats losses as data.

2. Luck vs. Edge
•Gambler: Relies on luck, superstition, and “hot streaks.”
•Professional: Focuses on statistical edge, probability, and long-term ROI.

3. All In Mentality vs. Bankroll Management
•Gambler: Goes all-in or over-leverages to “win big.”
•Professional: Manages risk, sizes bets/investments to survive and scale.

4. Short Term High vs. Long Term Growth
•Gambler: Wants fast wins and dopamine spikes.
•Professional: Delays gratification, compounds over time.

5. Outcome Obsessed vs. Process Focused
•Gambler: Measures success only by outcome (“Did I win?”).
•Professional: Evaluates the quality of decision-making, not just results.

6. Excuses vs. Accountability
•Gambler: Blames bad luck, refs, the market, anything but themselves.
•Professional: Owns every play, win or lose learns and adapts.

7. Entertainment vs. Execution
•Gambler: Views the game as fun or thrilling.
•Professional: Treats it like a business. Fun comes after success.

I go along with all the comparisons but I'm curious if being a professional gambler also means you're a profitable gambler? We all know that people's reason to gamble is money. Whatever type of person you are, it's always the money you're after, the fun part just comes second. The fact that gambling relies on luck to win, it doesn't guarantee a person with the proper discipline to earn money from it. The house always wins in a casino. It will always find a way to beat the gambler. There could be a little to no difference between a casual and professional gambler in terms of profitability if luck won't be on their side. And there could be times that an aggressive gambler wins the jackpot if fortune favors him.
