There are still many meetings among BRICS members and this group is moving forward strongly. Just because the media doesn't go bananas over each BRICS move doesn't mean they are not happening.

For example in the recent summit there were a lot of discussions on the agricultural topic (food security for member states). And there is still countries that request to join. I believe Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, ... were the latest ones.

India is in a sense like Turkey. They think by playing all sides they can advance in the world. This is why India is a member of every cooperation out there and is not truly benefiting from any.
