With or without pro-crypto people around, we would still see a new ATH - it would be just brewed longer by the market and events on it.
You are making a good point, and I've been of that disposition too. Let Bitcoin be Bitcoin, regardless of who the president of the United States is. Bitcoin didn't have the permission of the US president when it was at $5, and grew to the insane level it is now. The Bitcoin community is large and self-sufficient, that's what we should all be looking at above all other things. This will reduce the heartbreak if the so-called president disappoints.
But we should not deny their role and influence on bitcoin and its development. When bitcoin was small they didn't care about it and it was developed freely but now things have changed. Once the government stops ignoring and wants to intervene more deeply in the market, bitcoin will hardly be able to avoid the impacts coming from them. The US government is the one that controls the flow of money, regulates the world economy while bitcoin is just a small part and depends on economy. Bitcoin is not independent so it would not be entirely correct to say that it could still grow if they did not want it to.
Bitcoin is just a financial market, its rise and fall depends on the cash flow of the market and the United States is the country that controls the world financial market as well as the largest market in the world. Don't deny their role and influence.
If China USA and European union made BTC possession a crime BTC would suffer bigly.
It is mainstream enough that the governments can fuck it bigly.
